An evening between Twitter aesthetics and a vision of doom by the Frankfurter Hauptschule artists' collective. Winners of the Heidelberg Play Market stage an evening between conceptual art and theater, blending politics, pop, and provocation more info
Every time the art it deserves: an evening between Twitter aesthetics and a vision of doom by Frankfurter Hauptschule. Winners of the Heidelberg Play Market stage an evening between conceptual art and theater. Politics, pop and provocation meet in the Werkraum: with their first theatre piece ‘2×241 Titel doppelt so gut wie Martin Kippenberger’, the Frankfurter Hauptschule artists’ collective delivers an absurd and highly political exchange of blows between contemporary diagnosis, dialogue-based confusion, sarcastic invocations of the Nazi era and pure slapstick. The starting point is Kippenberger’s book ‘241 Bildtitel zum Ausleihen für Künstler’ (1986). The collective takes the idea further - and doubles it with its own collection of titles for artworks that do not (yet) exist. High and pop cultural references merge, overlap and sometimes overwhelm. The stage design, on the other hand, is minimalist: a cross in the centre - symbol, image, projection surface. Christian iconography meets party excess and Almklausi’s ‘Mama Lauda’ to the melody of Gary Jules’ ‘Mad World’ becomes the soundtrack of the present. For their radical text collage, the Frankfurt secondary school received the Heidelberg Play Market’s Author Award in 2024. The performance is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes long. Ticket prices are 10 €, reduced 5 €. This performance includes "Young night afterwards".

A play about a group of young nerds planning a world revolution, directed by Dennis Duszczak and based on the novel by Sibylle Berg more info
A blueprint for world revolution — Director: Dennis Duszczak. A group of young nerds has buckled down and accepted the crisis as a permanent state and injustice as a constant. They are employed by dubious start-ups or tech giants as gamers, IT workers and programmers. They sleep under their office desks because even small, unheated flat-shares have become unaffordable. But then a message pops up on their smartphones – and with it, a spark of hope. A short time later, in a bug-proof container in Switzerland, they are planning nothing less than the overthrowing of the world. The fact that Sibylle Berg’s unashamedly angry and cynical language combines perfectly with Dennis Duszczak’s playful directing style has already been demonstrated in his production of “GRM. Brainfuck” which was invited to the 2023 “Radikal Jung” festival in Munich and won the Master Class award. In the 24/25 season, Duszczak is directing an adaptation of Berg’s follow-up novel “RCE – #RemoteCodeExecution” with the third-year students from the Otto Falckenberg School. Because: Resistance is not futile.

The afternoon disco for everyone who prefers to sleep at night. It starts at 4 p.m. and is over by 10 p.m., just in time for bed more info
The afternoon disco for everyone who prefers to sleep at night. Who doesn't know it? On the one hand, you want to jump around in the disco, have a few drinks, sing along loudly to "Don't stop believing" and swing your hips to 90s hits, on the other hand, the couch also has a nasty attraction - and getting stuck at the bar until 5 am is only really cool if you can sleep through the next day. A dilemma for many middle-aged people. Here comes the solution: the disco night during the day - at Milla, a cellar club without sunlight. It starts at 4 p.m., at 10 p.m. it's already over and just in time for bedtime, all day owls are in bed. The next day: saved! You'll hear a mishmash of great songs that feel even better with a few drinks: The Killers, Rednex, Backstreet Boys, Queen, Scooter, Fettes Brot, Kings of Leon, Deichkind and the Spice Girls - the city's biggest DJ duo shamelessly fires from all barrels. There are also neon lights, fog and a very nice audience. Come by, drink and sing - and then off to bed, make Bubu!

With his new, internationally staffed band Transient Bodies, the saxophonist and composer Moritz Stahl, driven by insatiable curiosity, ventures into unexplored sound territory. It quickly becomes clear that he never shies away from risk, is ready to change course in fractions of a second when the musical situation demands it. His three bandmates are like him: open-ended, quick to react, adaptable in any context. Moritz Stahl trusts the instinct of the Swiss pianist Marie Krüttli, whom he values for her handling of electronic and acoustic sound sources, then the French bassist Etienne Renard and the award-winning South Korean drummer Sun-Mi Hong, who lives in the Netherlands and is currently causing a stir with her quintet and her BIDA Orchestra. Moritz Stahl, born in Augsburg, has proven himself in recent years as one of the most versatile jazz musicians in the country. He is credited with helping to shape how jazz in Germany continues to develop. With his Traumsequenz-Quintett, the formations Ark Noir and Endern, as a regular member of the Jazzrausch Bigband, as co-founder of the Niq Kollektiv and alongside Luca Zambito or Fiona Grond, he showed his full class. Right-wing movements are booming globally, with nationalist movements and authoritarian governments implementing racist and violent programs. At the same time, the accusation of fascism is used inflationarily, and it almost seems as if the term is only used to brand political opponents with relatively arbitrary intent. The lecture offers a way out of this dilemma and provides theoretical definitions of the term, as precise knowledge of the subject is a fundamental prerequisite for antifascist practice. Afterwards, there will be room for discussion, questions, and socializing.

A play based on Constance Debré's novel, exploring a woman's radical decision to leave her family for a new life, leading to a painful custody battle and a journey of self-discovery more info
"Love me tender" is a transgression based on the novel by Constance Debré. The play explores the question: "What would you risk to be free?" It tells the story of a woman, a successful lawyer, who decides after twenty years of marriage to leave her family to test herself, live life anew, devote her time to writing, and fall in love again – or perhaps not to love anymore at all, just to desire. The consequence of this 'self-dispossession' is her husband forcibly separating her from their eight-year-old son and initiating a custody battle under false pretenses. The protagonist, paralyzed with pain, works to acquire physical strength and emotional armor through manic daily swimming sessions. She fights for her son, who grows increasingly distant, and experiences a multitude of emotions: anger, fear, the desire for casual sex, and the need for intimacy. She feels a deep inner emptiness yet, at the same time, a freedom she has never known before. The writer Constance Debré critically examines social norms and herself. Following 'Nora', 'Die Freiheit einer Frau', and 'Baumeister Solness', the play continues a passionate exploration of the contradictions in women’s life plans and interprets 'Love Me Tender' with a powerful performance featuring three exceptional actresses and (live) video.
When the English saxophonist Andy Sheppard wrote the music for his new trio at the beginning of 2021, compositions developed that were influenced by the special world situation, but at the same time offered an escape from the abstract new reality more info
As the English saxophonist Andy Sheppard wrote the music for his new trio at the beginning of 2021, the world was just different: we all lived more or less in isolation. And so, in the quiet chamber of the Briton, compositions developed that were influenced by the special world situation, but at the same time offered an escape from the abstract new reality. Sheppard finally implemented what he had conceived with the Italian pianist Rita Marcotulli and the French bassist Michel Benita. The familiarity among them is no coincidence, because Sheppard, Marcotulli and Benita have repeatedly made music together in various constellations. What these still young veterans of European jazz now play together evokes associations, brings images to the inner eye, is very intimate and at the same time highly exciting. In his British homeland, Andy Sheppard enjoys something of a legendary status. He released acclaimed solo albums and made music with such diverse greats as Keith Tippett, Gil Evans or George Russell. A long-lasting joint trio with Carla Bley and Steve Swallow is unforgettable.

A discussion on the rise of right-wing movements fueled by social media algorithms, the collaboration between tech-believers, fascists, and the tech elite, and the authoritarian ideological project of the tech oligarchy. The lecture calls for a critical approach to AI and resistance against the tech oligarchy more info
Resentments, hate speech, and false claims are booming. Especially from the political right, they are gladly used as political means. The fact that authoritarian and right-wing extremist movements are currently so strong is a consequence of increasing uncertainty due to multiple crises such as climate change, wars, and economic crises. This rise is fueled by a significant increase in the relevance of social media. These technologies are not "neutral," because their algorithms promote polarization and make societal understanding processes impossible – welcome to the post-factual age. In the USA, not only since Musk's cutback campaign by the government organization DOGE, the interplay of technology-believers, fascists, and the tech elite has paved the way for the success of the right. The tech oligarchy not only produces technologies that are particularly useful to right-wing extremist movements, but at least since Trump's second term, they largely profess the right-wing project and agitate, for example, queer- and misogynistically. Their ideological project is deeply authoritarian. Social and political problems are reduced to technically solvable problems, a soon-to-be-reached super-AI is carried before them as a promise of salvation. This technological project represents an attack on the foundations of feminist and anti-fascist movements. The lecture aims to call for not carelessly using AI and co., or trivializing them as neutral tools. Instead, it is necessary to resist the tech oligarchy and its large-scale political project. Open from 20:00, lecture half an hour later. As always, food, drinks, card exchange, and conviviality.

A lecture performance exploring queer writing, recording, and storytelling in hopeless times, specifically in relation to "Mitleidsprotokoll" more info
This lecture performance delves into how we remember queer stories without happy endings, stories that don't speak of emancipation or finding freedom. It confronts the paradox that dreams of a more just future should emerge from experiences of pain and loss. The event also features the team behind Ruben Müller's OFS final production, "Mitleidsprotokoll," who will share their work status. The production adapts the autofictional works of French author Hervé Guibert, who chronicled his and others' experiences with HIV in the late 1980s. His works tell stories without happy endings, connecting directly to the lecture's central theme. Content Warning: Thematization of queerphobia, violence, and death.

A discussion on Europe's response to "new great power politics," arguing that European leaders see their peace and security threatened by "Putin's imperialism" and a US president pushing for peace with Russia. This leads to the demand for Europe to become a military great power, necessitating the continuation of the war in Ukraine and preventing peace with Russia more info
Europe's peace and security are, according to its political leaders, existentially threatened by "Putin's imperialism" and the US president, who is pushing for peace with Russia and redefining US claims in the "Western Hemisphere." Trump declares the old American world domination to be over, which for Europe's leadership means that Europe must become a military great power to take its security into its own hands. This requires keeping the war in Ukraine going and not allowing a peace agreement with Russia. The discussion will address the imperialist stance of the European powers, which is not deterred by the fact that Trump has deprived them of the atomic basis of their will to war against the Russian nuclear power.

A discussion titled "Denazified? 80 years after the Nuremberg Trials," exploring the historical and contemporary relevance of these trials, who was not on trial, and persistent continuities in authorities, justice, and family histories more info
This event, titled "Denazified? 80 years after the Nuremberg Trials," delves into the historical and contemporary relevance of the Nuremberg Trials. Eighty years ago, the first Nuremberg Trials began against 24 major war criminals, including Hermann Göring, Rudolf Heß, Hans Frank, and Joachim von Ribbentropp, with twelve of them sentenced to death. These trials are considered a milestone in international law. The discussion will question the relevance of these processes: Who was not on trial? Which continuities persisted in authorities, justice, and family histories? The event will explore how the trials allowed many Germans to create a convenient separation between "the perpetrators" and themselves. It will also address what this means for us today and how we confront anti-democratic movements. Guests include Niklas Frank, son of the executed NS criminal Hans Frank, and Holocaust survivor Dr. Eva Umlauf.
Shake Stew, the Austrian septet, celebrates its tenth anniversary with a preview of their three-part anniversary work 'One Two Three'. Known for their intoxicating soundscapes blending Great Black Music, blues, gospel, Maghrebinian influences, and film noir snippets, they have achieved international cult status more info
Those who were there at the time will remember with delight: in 2016, an unusually composed band played the opening concert of the Saalfelden Jazz Festival. After the first fifteen minutes, it was clear: something big was happening here. Trumpet, two saxophones, two basses, guembri, and two drums created an intoxicating soundscape through their virtuoso players, providing captivating passages between Great Black Music, blues, gospel, Maghrebinian influences, and film noir snippets. The cult status for the septet Shake Stew was not long in coming after the premiere. Now, the Austrian group is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a furious preview of the three-part anniversary work 'One Two Three'. Not even a visionary like Shake Stew founder Lukas Kranzelbinder would have guessed a decade ago that the band he founded could become an international long-runner. The key to success lay not only in the joy of playing of all involved and their versatility. Shake Stew was able to celebrate triumphs because the septet had earned what is now so fondly called a signature sound from the beginning. The many stylistic ingredients, the many twists and surprises in the programs and pieces never arouse the suspicion of arbitrariness. And then, bassist and composer Lukas Kranzelbinder and his friends also possess something that cannot be learned: a sense for dramaturgy and dynamics. We are sure: the three-day guest performance by Shake Stew will lead to a continuous musical intoxication.

USCHI's roots lie in the beautiful idyll of Munich's Oberföhringer Bürgerpark, and they are also at home with Schaufel & Besen Records, who released their latest EP "Kurz & Knackig," recorded and produced by No World Records.

This promises excessively solidary, dynamic vibes of a damn good punk concert with strong-willed rap over juicy, modern beats.

Shake Stew celebrates its 10th anniversary with an unseated concert, previewing their three-part anniversary work 'One Two Three'. Known for their unique sound blending Great Black Music, blues, gospel, and more, the septet promises a captivating musical experience more info
In 2016, an unusually staffed band played the opening concert of the Saalfelden Jazz Festival. After the first fifteen minutes, it was clear: something big was happening. Trumpet, two saxophones, two basses, guembri, and two drums created an intoxicating soundscape. The cult status for the septet Shake Stew has not long been in coming. Now the Austrian group is celebrating its tenth anniversary – with a furious preview of the three-part anniversary work One Two Three. Not even a visionary like Shake Stew founder Lukas Kranzelbinder would have guessed a decade ago that the band he founded could become an international long-runner. The key to success lay not only in the joy of playing of all involved and their versatility. Shake Stew was able to celebrate triumphs because the septet has from the beginning developed what is now so often called a signature sound. The many stylistic ingredients, the many twists and surprises in the programs and pieces never arouse the suspicion of arbitrariness. And then bassist and composer Lukas Kranzelbinder and his friends also possess something that cannot be learned: a sense of dramaturgy and dynamics. We are sure: Shake Stew's three-day guest performance will lead to a continuous musical intoxication. Please note, this concert is an unseated concert. Ticket prices: Admission €36, Students/Pupils €18, Members €18.

Dan Weiss, considered one of New York's top jazz drummers, blends influences from heavy rock, jazz, and Indian Tabla culture. His All-Star Quartet delivers energetic and joyful music that pushes boundaries more info
In New York, Dan Weiss is considered one of the top five jazz drummers by the New York Times. He draws from a pool of influences, having been shaped by heavy rock music, introduced to jazz by his drum teacher, and now deeply involved in Indian Tabla culture. He brings his diverse interests together through his accents, rhythms, sounds, and patterns. Dan Weiss is also a composer of substantial music that pushes boundaries and seeks new forms of expression. This is evident in his All-Star Quartet from his album "Unclassified Affections," featuring trumpeter Peter Evans, guitarist Miles Okazaki, and vibraphonist Patricia Brennan. This new quartet is full of energy and joy, developing subtleties that impress even the most seasoned jazz aficionados. When not leading his own bands (Trio, Quartet, or Starebaby), Dan Weiss collaborates with visionary jazz bandleaders, having created great music with artists like Lee Konitz, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Dave Binney, Tim Berne, and Miguel Zenón.
The legendary guitarist Bill Frisell performs with his trio, featuring bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston. Their music effortlessly blends jazz history, Americana, blues, folk, and avant-garde more info
For many years, the legendary guitarist Bill Frisell has maintained this trio with bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston. While the bandleader and his deep-toned colleague are rather reserved, almost shy individuals, the third man in the group shows a lot of temperament. Perhaps this is why the music of the three individualists Frisell, Morgan, and Royston is so exciting – and of course, also because jazz history, Americana, blues, folk, and avant-garde flow together so effortlessly and coherently in their pieces. Bill Frisell is one of the most influential guitarists of our time – many of his colleagues refer to his playing style, which sometimes seems to float unrealistically, but can then be defiant and wonderfully abstract. The way Thomas Morgan understands how to set accents on the bass has inspired many bandleaders, including Charles Lloyd, Jacob Bro, Paul Motian, Masabumi Kikuchi, and Jim Black. Rudy Royston long had the reputation of being a powerhouse drummer of the first order. He has shown that he can also be very different, namely extremely sensitive, in his own projects, then with Dave Douglas, Ron Miles, Lina Oh, or JD Allen.
Opening with an intro by Pamela C. Scorzin and a concert with recordings from the mountains by BJ Nilsen. Also, pea (sausage) soup and a pinch of glacier

The "Karawane München" presents the film "The Spies who ruined our lives" as part of their "Wednesday Cafe" series. The film is in English with English subtitles. There will be a short introduction before the screening, followed by an opportunity for discussion. A well-known example is Mark Kennedy, who was also active in Germany. The film primarily highlights the women who resisted these actions and are interviewed, including Kate Wilson, who took her case to the highest British court. The organizers aim to raise awareness about repression and police violence, focusing on the resilient women who fought back. The organizers warn that the film can be psychologically distressing as it deals with sensitive topics. A quiet space and support persons will be available. As with every "Wednesday Cafe," food will also be provided.

A performance by the OPEN HOUSE collective based on the game 'Would you rather...?'. The performance explores questions between absurdity, fantasy, and the agony of choice, turning the familiar game into an artistic method more info
Would you rather have unlimited money or unlimited time? Would you rather smell with your ears or hear with your nose? The game 'Would you rather...?' from shared apartment kitchens becomes an artistic method this winter. Reality becomes fluid in the fantasy scenarios of the Would-you-rather universe, and OPEN HOUSE swims along. Between drastic dualities and tender details, a space opens up for conversations, art, and everything in between. OPEN HOUSE asks questions that might give hope, polarize, or are just a bit weird. A decision must always be made between the scenarios and their alternatives. What do these choices say about us? How do they become art? Is it research or play? Maybe both. OPEN HOUSE questions itself with an open outcome for new methods.
A lecture by Morten Paul on fascism theories and antifascism, discussing different approaches to defining fascism and their implications for antifascist practice more info
"It is obvious that the clearer and sharper we recognize the nature of this insidious enemy and the effects of its nature, the sooner we will overcome it." This expectation, formulated by Clara Zetkin in 1923, is still shared by left-wing theories of fascism today. Building on this, the lecture presents central, often contradictory approaches to defining fascism and asks what consequences they each have for antifascist practice. It will become clear that the connection between understanding and preventing is far less clear than it initially appears. Finally, there will be a discussion on how a productive relationship between theory and practice can look today under the current conditions of crisis, authoritarian neoliberalism, and far-right electoral successes. Food and bar from 8 PM, the lecture begins at 8:30 PM.
A music talk exploring the world of pre-revolutionary Persian pop from the sixties and seventies, a female-dominated genre that blended Persian poetry with global rock and pop sounds more info
Persian Pop from the sixties and seventies: Why are we still interested in it today? The last form of pop music from Iran connects the globally branched Iranian and exiled Iranian society in nostalgia - but also in hope for freedom and equality. The self-empowered vinyl archaeologist Sebastian Reier takes you into a pop-cultural phenomenon that was entirely female-dominated: Iran's pre-revolutionary pop combined poetic roots of Persian poetry with irregular 6/8 rhythms and the global sounds of rock and pop. Suppressed by repression or forced into exile, this music lives on - as a memory between generations, as resistance and hope at the same time. An informal living room talk with rarely heard records from Sebastian Reier's notorious collection - and anecdotes from sofa to sofa - takes place in the Kiosk. We welcome great guests to the sofa: Niloufar Taghizadeh, director of the documentary film 'Googoosh - Made Of Fire', and Munich DJ Darismus.

Maria de Val, a versatile multi-instrumentalist from a Ladin mountain village, presents her "Mëda Medusa Tour 2026," blending indie-folk with Italian and South American influences, showcasing her unique perspective and unmistakable voice more info
A very special view of the world characterizes Maria de Val, and she takes us on a journey with exactly that. Grown up in a Ladin mountain village in the South Tyrolean Alps, the versatile musician has united the most diverse perspectives - as a Ladin in South Tyrol, a South Tyrolean in Italy, an Italian in Germany, and not least as a drummer in the male-dominated music world. Her music is the result of this exciting versatility. "I don't want to claim that I suffered from it," says Maria, "but it naturally sharpens the senses." And exactly this sensitivity is reflected in her music. As a multi-instrumentalist, Maria de Val masters an impressive range of instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keys, sequencer, theremin, and marimba - all of this flows into her musical creations. She has already demonstrated her skills on large stages with artists like Hubert von Goisern, but on her debut album "Mëda Medusa" she now shows herself in her full musical diversity. The album finally offers her unmistakable voice the space to fully unfold, after she was previously celebrated in bands like Ganes and ME + MARIE. In her songs, flexibility and longing for one's own place merge - an exciting Yin and Yang that reflects her very own perspective on the world. Musically inimitable in the "De Valschen Collagen-Stil," she weaves indie-folk with influences from Italian and South American music culture, as in the captivating number "None of Us Cannot Be Wrong _".

"Tide" is a dance theater piece by Sophie Haydee Colindres Zühlke and Serhat "Saïd" Perhat, exploring individual and collective rhythms through urban dance and experimental forms, where performers create a flow of movement reflecting personal transformations and societal dynamics more info
In their new production, Sophie Haydee Colindres Zühlke and Serhat "Saïd" Perhat explore the questions: What happens when one develops a perception for this omnipresent breathing? Which elements are overlooked in the flow of things? And how can we stop the floods of events to make new things visible? Following their successful dance theater piece "Grey," they embark with their ensemble on a research journey of individual and collective tides. Urban dance meets experimental forms; organic movement lines meet hard, acrobatic elements. From different dance contexts, the bodies of the performers become their own resonance spaces, with which the group creates a flow of movement. This follows sometimes personal transformations, sometimes societal dynamics. The individual dancers sometimes swim against the current or let themselves be carried by it.
Heinz Strunk presents a musical reading from "Kein Geld Kein Glück Kein Sprit," inviting the audience into a world of strange illnesses, unsettling events, and profoundly miserable family stories, filled with both pain and humor more info
Heinz Strunk reports on strange illnesses, unsettling events in the neighboring house, and tells profoundly miserable family stories and couple tragedies. Assembled household robots devoutly attend a puppet show, a woman ends up with the wrong cosmetic surgeon, and at the fish buffet in a luxury resort, retired couples go to war. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung called for the Büchner Prize for Strunk, and the Süddeutsche Zeitung suggested that if Strunk's success leads to more authors publishing short stories, Georg Büchner should be posthumously awarded the Heinz Strunk Prize.
